AIDS Memorial

The AIDS memorial- reached both to the dark past while seeking a hopeful future. It had put into context the vast and horrible epidemic by remembering the power of each precious life extinguished.

Around a circular void in the meadow rose a field of reeds, in the wind, they gently swayed like dancers, glittering in the sunlight.

Every day, the dancers would absorb the life of the sun and spend it in the night; emitting a softly glowing field of lights.

As each night passed, one by one, individual reeds would extinguish, until the kinetic field gave way to the stillness of night.

With the certainty of dawn, the memorial would be replenished; it would brighten, fade and always be renewed.
